About the Chemistry Career Road Tour
The Chemistry Career Road Tour (CCRT), launched during National Chemistry Week in October 2023 under the leadership of Dr. Ramonita Díaz, is an initiative designed to inspire and empower students by showcasing the diverse career opportunities in chemistry. During its inaugural edition, the CCRT visited eight strategic locations across Puerto Rico, offering hands-on activities and expert-led discussions on topics ranging from food chemistry and forensic science to sustainable biotechnology and astrochemistry. This impactful program emphasized inclusivity and accessibility, engaging students from various educational backgrounds, including those with learning differences.
Building on the success of its first edition, the CCRT enters its second phase in 2025, expanding its reach to five key regions of Puerto Rico: the North (Inter American University, Metropolitan Campus), East (Inter American University, Fajardo Campus), Center (Inter American University, Barranquitas Campus), South (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico, Ponce Campus), and West (University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus). This year, the CCRT aims to continue its mission of inspiring students to explore chemistry’s vital role in addressing societal challenges, including health, environmental sustainability, and innovation. Through interactive presentations and dynamic career-oriented activities, the program remains committed to fostering the next generation of scientists and innovators in Puerto Rico.
